Lionel Messi named the two best football teams in the world based on “results” and “playing level” in a fascinating interview with an Argentine TV station.
The 36-year-old recently sat down with Infobae at Le Meridien Hotel, Florida to talk about a variety of topics. One of them is Argentina’s opportunity at Copa America 2024 . “I think Argentina is always a good candidate,” he said. “When a tournament starts, whether it’s the world championship, the Copa America or any tournament, Argentina is a contender just like Brazil.”
Messi then shared his “feeling of relief” at becoming world champion after Argentina’s victory in Qatar and talked about life in the US with MLS club Inter Miami. But perhaps the most talked about topic is his thoughts on the world’s best clubs.
“Real Madrid is the strongest team in the world, they won the Champions League. In terms of results, Real Madrid is the strongest team,” Messi admitted in the interview. “In terms of level, I think Man City is the strongest team.”
He added: “Personally, I like Guardiola’s Man City. I think any team with Guardiola will be special because of the way he works, the way he helps players train and the way he creates innovations.” He makes his teams play better.”
