I am highly self-critical, and I am aware of the times when I am good, when I am bad, when I play well, and when I play poorly. When I discover that it is time for me to take that break, I will do it without giving any consideration to my age.

He went on to say:

I am aware that at that very time, I am experiencing a feeling that I am no longer prepared to perform, that I am no longer enjoying myself or assisting my teammates.
