The Uruguayan forward joins the list of recent high-profile additions for the team that David Beckham co-owns. After his contract with Brazilian Serie A team Gremio was fulfilled, he will become a free agent and join the club. He joins former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets at the Florida-based team in addition to Messi.
The Uruguayan said, via an English translation provided by the club, “I’m very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami.” I’m prepared to work hard to realize my goal of winning more championships with this outstanding Club.”
Between 2014 and 2021, Messi and Suarez were Barcelona teammates and won four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies, and one Champions League title. As essential members of one of the greatest teams in club football history, Busquets and Alba were also with the team the entire time.
Suarez, who turns 37 in January, participated in the 2023 season for Gremio in Brazil, where he scored 29 goals in 54 games and helped the team win the Campeonato Gaucho and Recopa Gaucha.
