The home advantage was not enough for Al Feiha to overcome the huge gap in strength with Al Nassr. The home team at King Abdullah Sports City played poorly and could only brace themselves to fend off attacks from the defending runner-up Saudi Arabia.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a good day. In the 5th minute, he made a brilliant pass for Anderson Talisca to run down and face the goalkeeper, before scoring with an accurate diagonal shot.
In the 45+10 minute, Ronaldo directly put his name on the scoreboard with a classy free kick. Instead of performing his signature kick, the Portuguese veteran chose to place the ball in the bottom corner. The ball curled into the far corner, leaving the home team’s goalkeeper completely helpless.
Ronaldo scored his 899th career goal, which was also his 64th successful free kick.
In the second half, Al Nassr maintained the pressure. In the 60th minute, Al Feiha’s defense unexpectedly made a mistake. Ronaldo had a great chance to reach the 900-goal mark. With only goalkeeper Al Dakheel in front of him, CR7 sent the ball incredibly over the bar.
In the 85th minute, Ronaldo chose a favorable position but Marcelo Brozovic did not pass. The former Inter midfielder “fired a cannon” from a tight angle, making the roof of Al Feiha’s net explode.
The match was exciting in the final minutes. In the 87th minute, Al Feiha scored a goal to reduce the score after a mistake by Al Nassr’s defense. However, the defending runners-up managed to restore the 3-goal gap thanks to another superb free kick from Talisca’s left foot, when the clock pointed to the 90+5 minute.
The match ended with an easy victory for Al Nassr. This was also the 5th consecutive victory for Ronaldo and his teammates against this opponent. In the next round, Al Nassr will face a difficult challenge called Al Ahli.
