Inter Miami and Lionel Messi have returned!
The Herons will take on Los Cuscatlecos on January 19 in their first game back on the field in 2024. Messi and company will be playing. The game, which takes place at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, is scheduled to take place on the road one day prior to the USMNT’s international friendly against Slovenia in Texas. Along with the El Salvador friendly, the Herons are also connected to a Thursday game against River Plate, the dominant team in Argentina. This news follows earlier reports of matches against Al-Hilal and Newells Old Boys.
Given that the game is scheduled for the day before the USMNT takes the field, Gregg Berhalter and Tata Martino will need to decide where to place Deandre Yedlin and Benjamin Cremaschi. The youthful striker did not participate in an official competitive match, so he is not yet eligible for a cap. He made his debut for his country in a friendly against Oman in September. Meanwhile, Yedlin has been absent from the programme lately, but since January isn’t a FIFA window, he might make an appearance. We can’t wait to begin sharing our preseason schedule and getting ready for an exciting 2024 campaign. Chris Henderson, chief football officer and sporting director, said, “We are excited to play the El Salvador national team. It will be a good first test for our squad against the best players from the country.”
Inter Miami is currently in the offseason in terms of preparation for the Herons’ official return to action on January 19. In addition to organising contracts, roster expansions, and the 2024 MLS Draught, above all, it’s a brief respite from a busy schedule.
