Inter Miami suddenly hired another of Messi’s teammates
According to ESPN (USA), Inter Miami has added veteran goalkeeper Oscar Ustari (38 years old) to the squad on a temporary contract of approximately 4 months. Ustari will replace goalkeeper CJ dos Santos, who suffered a fracture in his left hand that required surgery recently.
Goalkeeper Ustari joined Inter Miami on a free transfer and will be the backup goalkeeper to No. 1 goalkeeper Drake Callender. Inter Miami is aiming for the rest of the MLS schedule to win the Supporters’ Shield championship title. Therefore, they need an experienced backup goalkeeper, while CJ dos Santos will have to miss around 4 months to recover from his injury.
What is special is that goalkeeper Ustari, who has just joined, is an old close friend of Messi, as both played for the Argentina U-20 and U-23 national teams, which won the U-20 World Cup in 2005, the Netherlands and won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics. The reunion of the two at Inter Miami was considered surprising and interesting.
Goalkeeper Ustari played for many famous clubs in Argentina, including Independiente, Boca Juniors and Newell’s Old Boys. He also travelled to Europe to play for La Liga clubs Getafe and Almeria (Spain) and to England to play for Sunderland Club.
