Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi won the Best Player award for the first time in the American Professional League (MLS).
Inter Miami defeated Sporting KC 3-2 in the ninth round of the Major League Soccer 2024. Messi had a fantastic game, contributing one goal and one assist to the team’s victory. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the Argentine superstar scored a goal from a long range.

Messi also made history in Major League Soccer by being the first player in the league’s history to score at least five goals and five assists in his first five matches. When it comes to contributing to 10 goals during the first five matches of a Major League Soccer season, the 36-year-old attacker is on par with former great players such as Landon Donovan, Thierry Henry, and Raul Diaz Arce.
Messi is not participating in any games on the pitch this season; nonetheless, he does put on his playing shoes and either scores or assists. In total, La Pulga has made eight appearances across all competitions, and in that time, they have scored four goals for their colleagues and rattled the net of their opponents seven times. When Inter Miami plays Nashville on April 21, they are hoping that Messi will continue to keep his form and physical strength in good shape so that he can participate.
