Delicately Inked Tattoos Looks Like Enchanting Tales About Nature’s Bountiful Beauty

Pony Reinhardt Tattoo Artist

Tattooist Pony Reinhardt creates body art that views nature through the lens of the mystical. Coming from a visual language built on “ritual placemats and alchemical diagrams,” the delicate linework features a variety of animals, plants, fungi, and the cosmos that often come together in collage-like compositions. The results are pieces that span the length or width of an arm or chest with their different elements inviting you to consider their overall meaning.

Reinhardt works on custom pieces with clients, and she’s so sought after that she books appointments nearly six months in advance in her Tenderfoot Studio. “I think of the tattoos as a spell,” she reveals. “There are three parts: ingredients, intention, and ritual.” (The ritual is the act of tattooing and the intention is something you find within yourself.) Reinhardt takes care of the ingredients. “My favorite way to design your piece is with a list of specific subject matter, especially when paired with an overarching concept or story,” she explains. “Then I have the freedom to assemble the parts and the root of the story to add details if needed. I love mythologies and interesting stories rooted in history or science.”
