When asked recently what it was like coaching the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on The Obi One podcast, Carlo Ancelotti said (via @MadridXtra on X): “Coaching Cristiano Ronaldo? It was very easy. When you have a player who scores in every game, it’s easy (laughs).”
Speaking further about the 39-year-old striker, Ancelotti added (via @TeamCRonaldo on X): “What Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved in his career is something very wonderful, something unbelievable.”
Ronaldo arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu in 2009, after six years at Manchester United. The captain of the Portuguese national team is the top scorer in Real Madrid’s history, with 451 goals and 13 assists in 438 appearances in all competitions.
During his nine years at Los Blancos, Ronaldo also won three La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey, two Supercopas de España, four UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Supercups and three FIFA Club World Cups. He also won four of his five Ballon d’Ors (2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017) during his time at the Spanish giants.
Cristiano Ronaldo, reflecting on the possibility of a return to Real Madrid, said: “Real Madrid will always have a special place in my heart. My journey there was extraordinary and full of unforgettable moments. Who knows what the future holds? But for now, I’m focused on new challenges.”
Regarding the possibility of Ronaldo wearing the Real Madrid shirt again in the future, Ancelotti said: “Cristiano is a legend at Real Madrid and will always be welcome here. Although he is focused on new challenges now, the club’s doors will always be open to him. If there is an opportunity and he wants to come back, it would be a great honor for us to have him again.”
With these statements, both Ancelotti and Ronaldo left fans speculating about the Portuguese star’s possible return to the Santiago Bernabéu, rekindling fans’ hopes of seeing the legendary striker wearing the Real Madrid shirt again.
