Immediately after the opening whistle, Olympic Morocco attacked like a storm. Under constant pressure from Morocco’s Olympic team, the US Olympic defense made mistakes. In the 27th minute, Harriel fouled Rahimi in the penalty area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. It was Rahimi who personally stepped up to successfully open the score for the Morocco Olympics.
After the loss, the US Olympic team was still confused in launching the attack. Meanwhile, Olympic Morocco controlled almost the entire match in the first half with 66% possession of the ball.
Entering the second half, American Olympic pushed forward to attack in search of a goal. They created quite a few shots but unfortunately could not concretize them into goals.
After that, Olympic Morocco began to regain its position. In just 7 minutes from minute 63 to 70, they had 2 consecutive goals thanks to Ilias Akhomach and Achraf Hakimi, bringing the match score to 3-0.
During the remaining 20 minutes, the US Olympic tried to find an equalizer but all their efforts stopped at the level of opportunities. At the second minute of injury time, Olympic Morocco once again received a penalty and Mehdi Maouhoub successfully scored a 4-0 final victory.
Defeating the US Olympic by a large score, Olympic Morocco officially won the right to enter the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympic men’s soccer event. This is a miracle in this team’s first participation.
