Burt Ward dedicated his life to caring for dogs to improve their lives after playing Robin alongside Adam West’s Batman. Ward’s love of dogs began at a young age, as did his love of superheroes. Ward spent two years as one half of the dynamic duo in 120 episodes before dedicating his life to improving the lives of dogs.
Ward and his wife founded a nonprofit group called Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions in 1994, and since then, more than 15,000 dogs have found forever homes. Ward and his wife always have dogs at home ready for adoption. They live in an animal-friendly community in Los Angeles, which allows them to keep many dogs with them until they find them forever homes.
Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon and actresses America Ferrera and Vanessa Williams adopted dogs from the Wards.
Ward also launched Gentle Giant Products to provide natural food for cats and dogs. Parishes do this just to get help, because they don’t take money for what they do. What a great success!
