Cosmo, the cat, spent a long time wandering the streets, likely abandoned when his family moved away. A kind-hearted resident came across the hungry feline and started feeding him and getting him help.

She noticed Cosmo had an infected eye, and his fur was severely tangled and matted on his hindquarters. By providing him with daily meals, she slowly earned his trust, and he began to warm up to her.

Cosmo returned on a Sunday, stayed with his caretaker all morning, and let her pet him for the first time.

Hopeful that the cat could reintegrate into indoor life, the resident contacted her local rescue group, Community Cat Club, for help. When the rescuers arrived, Cosmo walked up to them as if he was ready for a change.

“We went right over and were able to get him in a carrier pretty easily,” Community Cat Club shared. “He came up to us for pets as soon as he met us.”

Cosmo, estimated to be 8-10 years old, was relieved when the clumps of mats were removed, finally free from the discomfort he had endured.

After receiving thorough exams and treatments, he moved into a foster home to start his recovery and learn to socialize. “He was nervous after everything that happened, but this boy is sweet and deserves a home.”

A few days later, Cosmo returned to the vet’s office for a much-needed dental procedure, only to discover all his remaining 18 teeth needed to be extracted. He went home that day as a toothless cat but felt so much better.

The growling and hissing faded away, replaced by a hearty appetite and a new zest for life.

After a spa treatment, Cosmo’s spirits were noticeably lifted. He discovered a love for being brushed, filling the room with soothing purrs as he basked in the pampering. As his walls slowly crumbled, his gentle demeanor and mellow attitude began to shine through.

It took several weeks of medication, nourishment, and TLC before his eye started to improve.
